The GMTA's membership is global. Members are national or regional medical technology industry associations. Together, they represent innovative companies that currently develop and manufacture 85 percent of the world’s medical devices, diagnostics and equipment.

a. organize itself, in particular appoint its chairperson or co-chairpersons (the "Chair" or "Co-Chairs"), the vice-chairperson (the "Vice-Chair") and the executive director, if any (the "Executive Director");
b. convene and chair General Assemblies and Working Sessions and execute decisions of these Assemblies;

The GMTA has no financial statements. Because the GMTA does not collect dues, it has no formal source of funds. Financial documents/a financial report is thus not available. Instead, eight GMTA members voluntarily provide funds to Sidley Austin, since it acts as the GMTA’s Secretariat in Geneva. Each contributing association, as well as Sidley Austin, is subject to its individual audit.

The mission of GMTA is to support the objectives of providing safe, effective and innovative medical technology that saves and enhances lives, benefiting people and society. GMTA provides a forum in which Members exchange information and jointly develop and advocate policies that encourage innovation in medical technology to address patients' healthcare needs. GMTA seeks to reflect the medical technology industry's views on a global basis and engage with policy makers at a global level.

Within the framework of its mission and unless the GMTA Board decides otherwise, the objectives and scope of GMTA include in particular:

a. Develop, promote and disseminate information pertaining to medical technology policies and issues on a global basis;
b. coordinate common policy positions for effective representation of the medical technology industry at a global level generally and before the following organisations: the World Health Organization (WHO), World Bank (WB), World Intellectual
