The Board of Directors of IFBLS are individuals nominated and elected from the Association Members of the Corporation. Board of Directors shall be constituted as outlined in Section 5 of the By-Laws. Within the Board of Directors, the Officers of IFBLS are the President, President-Elect and the Past-President, who constitute the Management Committee.
By seeking election to the Board of Directors, Directors have agreed to donate considerable time and effort to the organisation.
Directors are volunteers and do not receive remuneration for the time and effort which they contribute to the organisation. Directors honor the responsibilities and duties of the Board by active participation at Board and Committee meetings and by active involvement in projects and assignments with reports as required.
Directors hold shared responsibility for carrying out the objectives of IFBLS according to the By-Laws, Operational Action Plan and agreements of the GAD.
Directors report to the President and are assigned to committees and projects by the President or the Management Committee
The Board in total is responsible for carrying out the financial decisions of the GAD.

At the formal GAD the elected Board of Directors report to Association Members on the IFBLS’s progress since the last meeting and receive feedback from the delegates. The financial report, budget and reports from Open Forum are presented. A new Board of Directors is elected every two years at the GAD.

The IFBLS World Congress is held every second year, and Congress Fees are collected from the Host Country as a one-time payment of $30,000.00 CAD.
The IFBLS World Congress was not held in 2023, therefore are no Congress Fees to report in this report.

Pursuant the WHO Framework of Engagement with Non-State Actors, WHO does not engage with the tobacco industry or non-State actors that work to further the interests of the tobacco industry. WHO also does not engage with the arms industry.

For the purposes of this statement:

  • tobacco industry means any entity involved in the manufacture, sale or distribution of tobacco and related products, and any affiliate of such entity; and
  • arms industry means any entity involved in the manufacture, sale or distribution of arms, and any affiliate of such entity.

This disclosure statement needs to be provided by any nongovernmental organization, private sector entity, philanthropic foundation and academic institution prior to engaging with WHO.

In view of the foregoing, please answer the following questions:
